I'm not really into the Lj thing any more, my near-total lack of posts was probably a clue.I'll keep this account for commenting and whatnot but for all intents and purposes I'm hanging up the keys and turning the lights off.I expect this won't last long and something else will appear in its place.

"I heard someone on the radio once say that they were tired of the prejudice aimed at the overweight. They said something like "you're not allowed to make fun of gay people, so why are you allowed to make fun of fat people? It's the same thing."

It's not the same thing though, is it? Gay people are born that way. They didn't work at becoming gay. Fat people became fat because they would rather be that way than stop eating so much. They had to eat and eat to get fat. Then, when they were fat they had to keep up the eating to stay fat. For gayness to be the same as fatness, gay people would have to start off straight but then ween themselves onto cock. Soon they're noshing all day getting gayer and gayer. They've had more than enough cock... they're full... they're just sucking for the sake of it. Now they're overgay, and frowned upon by people who can have the occasional cock but not over indulge.

When a doctor tells me that that's how you become gay, I'll stop making jokes about fat people."

I'm not sure if I should be enthusiastic or offended by this.

Put your music player on shuffle, and write down the first line of the first twenty songs. Post the poem that results. The first line of the twenty-first song is the title.

A Hungry Feeling, Came O'er Me Stealing

Don't you feel a change a coming from another side of time
I sit here every day looking at the sky
Tuff ghost, tuff crowd, tuff love
We live on the edge of a body of water

Ooh, Las Vegas, ain't no place for a poor boy like me
Weaving down a byroad, singing the song
Do you curse where you come from
Suzanne takes you down to her place near the river

Must be the colours and the kids
In home theaters still projecting
In fiber optic illusion
I sat alone with the dreams of children

It's gonna be all right, all right, all right, It's gonna be all right
Gave you all my lovin', everything I could
I'm feeling good, and my heart is made of wood
See the ripples in the water, as I throw pebbles in the pond.

Come here sister, Papa's in the swing
Take me out tonight
Little Johnny's sad and fucked
You ain't much of a player, and you ain't playin' for free.

While I did skip over instrumental songs, I promise that coincidental similar themes and occasional rhyming were purely chance. From the looks of this list it appears I listen to mostly 70's music and indie pop, which if I had to be cut-throat about it I guess is a fair judgement.

It's funny because it's a terrible series and you should all be ashamed of yourselves.

An Irish Airman Foresees His Death

I know that I shall meet my fate

Somewhere among the clouds above;

Those that I fight I do not hate,

Those that I guard I do not love;

My country is Kiltartan Cross,

My countrymen Kiltartan's poor,

No likely end could bring them loss

Or leave them happier than before.

Nor law, nor duty bade me fight,

Nor public men, nor cheering crowds,

A lonely impulse of delight

Drove to this tumult in the clouds;

I balanced all, brought all to mind,

The years to come seemed waste of breath,

A waste of breath the years behind

In balance with this life, this death.

William Butler Yeats

This is one of my favourite poems, thought it would be an appropriate choice to mark the date.

1925 - 2008

The films of Paul Newman were a big part of my childhood (my nickname as a baby was Fast Eddie after his character in The Hustler) so in a weird way I feel more attached to his death than a lot of other actors I love who have died. He'd been battling Cancer for some time and he didn't have long left, but that doesn't make it any less sad. He was an excellent actor, a great humanitarian who donated more than 200 million dollars to charity and a proud addition to Richard Nixon's enemies list. You will be missed.

standing on the parlour spot, trying to get my lights right when the lights start to flicker

'is that the techs screwing with us' says jason

'nah wee lad, it be a poltergeest.Stay still ahn in won' eat yer soul laddie' says I. No such lights returned, and we clamboured our way to the foyer via glowing tape.
Blue and red lights flashed outside, and I went out the front to discover the power line on fire- which is traditionally speaking not where fire is supposed to go.The brigade was called, and Les stood casually under the pole smoking a ciggarette- casually tempting fate.

'Les for gods' sake'

'what?'

'Here's an idea guys, lets not stand under where the firehose is going to spray'

Went lent against the poles and watched them try to extinguish a power line.

'Isn't it a bad idea to put water on electrical fires?'

'Not if you have lots and lots'

I went and got biscuits, and once the fire was extinguished the show could begin and the delay was well compensated by free sherry all round.

'in tonights performance of "concerned citizens watch a fire being put out" I will play "concerned man in robe" '
